Overview

Accelerated endurance. Traceable results.

The Accelerated Life Test Bench evaluates the long-term functional reliability of hydrogen Pressure Relief Valves by subjecting them to repeated pressure cycles and actuation events under controlled conditions. The machine verifies that the valve opens, relieves, reseats and remains functional after the programmed endurance cycles.

Repeated pressurisation. Safe venting. Automatic reseating verification — cycle after cycle.

Supplied as a modular skid or enclosed cabinet with gas supply, pressure control, PRV test fixture, vent collection, DAQ, PLC/HMI and safety interlocks. Hydrogen service available as an optional configuration with gas detection, purging and hazardous area safety logic.

Component scope: Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) for hydrogen fuel-system applications. Other PRV assemblies may be accommodated via fixture/adaptor design. PRD/TPRD devices are not the primary scope unless separately specified.

Test objective: Simulate repeated life-cycle operation, verify set pressure, opening behaviour, pressure relief function, reseating and leakage performance after cycling. Generate traceable records for qualification, regulatory review and customer approval.

Report output: Password-protected test report with pressure-time graph, cycle summary and pass/fail status automatically generated at test completion.

Automated Test Sequence

The machine executes a fully automated test cycle: load the PRV into the approved fixture and connect inlet and outlet ports; close the interlocked chamber and perform nitrogen purge/leak-precheck; pressurize the inlet side according to the programmed ramp rate; detect PRV opening event; vent through the safe exhaust header and monitor reseating; repeat automatically until the programmed cycle count is completed; perform final functional and leakage check; generate the test report.

Machine Construction and Fixture Design

  • Blast-resistant guarded test enclosure with door interlock and internal drain/vent provision
  • PRV-specific inlet and outlet adapters in SS316L / hydrogen-compatible materials with quick-change fixture plate
  • Cone-and-thread or suitable high-pressure gas fittings selected according to pressure rating
  • PRV outlet connected to safe vent header with silencer / flame arrestor / exhaust stack as per safety philosophy
  • Independent system relief valve / rupture disc to protect test manifold and piping
  • Hydrogen detector integration for enclosure and exhaust area in hydrogen service configuration

Safety Design Notes

Hydrogen testing is performed only in the approved configuration with purge, ventilation, gas detection and ESD logic enabled. All pressurised components, valves, tubing and adapters are rated above the maximum test pressure with suitable safety margin. The PRV outlet is never vented into the cabinet; it is routed to a controlled and safe discharge path. The system inhibits pressurisation when the chamber door is open or any safety interlock is unhealthy.

Scope of Supply

Mechanical package (machine frame/cabinet, test chamber, PRV fixture, HP manifold, vent header interface); Pressure system (gas booster/pressure control module, isolation valves, check valves, relief devices, rated tubing); Instrumentation (pressure transducers, gauges, temperature sensor, flow/event detection sensor, gas detector interface); Control system (PLC, safety relay/safety PLC, HMI, DAQ, report generation software, alarm tower); Utilities interface; Documentation (GA drawing, P&ID, electrical drawings, I/O list, operation manual, calibration certificates, FAT/SAT protocols); Operator training.
