Overview

One bench. All components.

The Continued Operation Test Machine is designed for endurance cycling and functional durability evaluation of CGH2 and hydrogen/natural gas blend fuel system components. The machine pressurises, actuates, cycles, monitors and records the component under controlled conditions, followed by leakage, hydrostatic strength or functional checks as required by the applicable ISO 12619 part and approved test plan.

Pressure regulators to fittings — a single configurable platform for all continued operation requirements.

The machine supports configurable pressure profiles: pressure build, dwell, pressure decay/vent, return/reset and inter-cycle delay. Component-specific values such as 2,000, 20,000, 50,000 and 100,000 cycles are supported through the recipe system.

Component coverage: Pressure regulator, check valve, manual cylinder valve, automatic valve, pressure indicator, pressure relief valve, thermally activated PRD/PRD, excess flow valve, gas-tight housing/vent hose, rigid SS fuel line, flexible fuel line, filter and fittings.

Standards basis: ISO/IS-ISO 12619 Parts 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16; AIS-157; UN ECE R134. Gas injector (ISO 12619 Part 7) is excluded from this machine scope unless separately specified.

Temperature conditioning: Ambient 20 ± 5°C, low temperature −40°C / −20°C and high temperature 85°C / 120°C as required. TPRD/PRD thermal cycling may require separate hot water/thermal bath provision.

Operating Sequence

Install UUT with correct adapter, gasket/seal and torque per UUT drawing. Close enclosure door and verify emergency stop, door interlock, gas detector, ventilation, purge pressure and vent path status. Purge test line and UUT using nitrogen/dry gas. Pressurize UUT to programmed pressure profile and start automatic continued operation cycle. PLC records pressure, temperature, actuation command, feedback, leak status, cycle number and alarm status each cycle. After target cycle count, depressurize safely, purge and permit operator access only after safe gas reading. Perform post-test leakage/hydrostatic strength/functional verification and generate final report.

Pressure Regulator Continued Operation Reference

The bench supports the 50,000-cycle regulator continued operation test: 47,500 cycles at service pressure/room temperature; 500 cycles inlet-pressure cycling 100% to 50% SP/room temperature; 500 cycles SP/maximum temperature; 500 cycles inlet-pressure cycling/maximum temperature; 500 cycles 50% SP/low temperature; 500 cycles inlet-pressure cycling/low temperature. Outlet pressure stability within set pressure ±15% for ≥5 s. Downstream shut-off valve closing within 1 s. Final lock-up pressure within manufacturer limit.

Safety Provisions

  • Hydrogen testing carried out only in a ventilated, interlocked and approved test area with safe venting/purging arrangement
  • Pressure-containing parts selected for hydrogen compatibility, pressure rating, temperature rating, fatigue duty and end-connection compatibility
  • 1000 bar class provision requires pressure vessel/tubing code calculation, FEA where required, hydrotest, NDT and safety risk assessment
  • Alternative gas leakage results converted to hydrogen-equivalent value per approved standard/procedure
