Overview

100% hole inspection, automated.

Vision system that guarantees every part is inspected and every defective part is caught — before it leaves the line.

Through Hole Inspection — system detail
Fig · 02 Camera and spot light assembly with DIO interface

The Through Hole Inspection System uses machine vision to clearly demarcate the throughness of holes on manufactured parts. Correct pieces are marked automatically; faulty pieces trigger an alarm — giving the operator an immediate, unambiguous pass/fail result without manual interpretation.

A built-in part counting feature tracks the number of parts given to the operator versus the number processed by the vision system. A count mismatch means untested units — the system will not allow the batch to proceed until all input parts have been inspected, ensuring 100% coverage with no human bypass.

Every unit tested. Every defect caught. Every batch traceable.

Built on the IEEE 1394 FireWire industrial image acquisition standard with LabVIEW as the development platform. No separate image grabber card required — reducing hardware complexity and increasing system robustness.

Key Features

Seven system capabilities.

What makes the NMX-THI-FW the economical and reliable choice for 100% hole inspection.

Feature · 01

Highly Economical

Significantly lower cost than competing machine vision technologies for hole inspection. FireWire eliminates the need for a separate image grabber card, reducing both hardware cost and potential failure points.

Low Total Cost · No Grabber Card Required
Feature · 02

IEEE 1394 FireWire Technology

Built on the well-adopted industrial standard for image acquisition. FireWire provides deterministic, high-bandwidth data transfer from camera to PC — reliable in manufacturing environments where timing consistency is critical.

IEEE 1394 · Industrial Standard · High Bandwidth
Feature · 03

LabVIEW Development Platform

Best-in-class automation and machine vision development platform. LabVIEW provides a proven, maintainable software architecture with extensive NI library support for image processing and DIO control.

LabVIEW · NI Vision Libraries · Maintainable
Feature · 04

Custom GUI

Highly user-friendly custom Graphical User Interface addresses the full range of operator requirements — live image display, pass/fail status, part count, alarm state, and batch summary on a single screen.

Operator-Friendly · Single Screen · Live Display
Feature · 05

100% Coverage via Part Counting

Counts parts input to the operator and parts output from the vision system. A mismatch generates an alert — preventing any unit from escaping inspection. No setting required; the count is automatic.

Input/Output Count · No Escape · Auto Verification
Feature · 06

Data Storage & Report Generation

Images are tagged and stored on the basis of lots or runs. Stored images can be retrieved and published in a report in user-defined formats — providing full traceability for each production batch.

Lot-Based Storage · User-Defined Reports · Traceability
Feature · 07

Alarm on Fault Detection

Faulty pieces trigger an audible and/or visual alarm immediately on detection. The system marks the defective piece and halts acceptance — ensuring no faulty part is passed to the next process stage.

Instant Alarm · Defect Marking · Line Stop

FAQ

Common questions.

Q · 01What does the system inspect?
The throughness of holes on manufactured parts — whether a hole is completely through or partially blocked. Correct pieces are marked; faulty pieces trigger an alarm.
Q · 02How does the system guarantee all parts are tested?
A part-counting feature tracks units given to the operator versus units processed by the vision system. A mismatch generates an alert and prevents batch closure until all parts have been inspected.
Q · 03Why FireWire over USB or GigE camera interfaces?
IEEE 1394 FireWire is a well-established industrial standard for image acquisition with deterministic timing — important in automated manufacturing lines. It also eliminates the need for a separate image grabber card, reducing cost and complexity.
Q · 04Can inspection images be stored and retrieved?
Yes. Images are tagged and stored on the basis of lots or runs. They can be retrieved and published as reports in user-defined formats for full production traceability.
Q · 05What after-sales support does Neometrix provide?
Installation, commissioning, operator training, preventive maintenance, and on-site service. Standard 12-month warranty with optional annual maintenance contracts.
