NMX-CAS-48 · SUPPLIED — TWO SYSTEMS · 2023

Dry, oil-free compressed air. Class 1.5.1, certified at the outlet.

An integrated package that ends the argument about air quality: an oil-free scroll compressor with built-in refrigerated dryer, a 1000-litre stainless steel receiver, and a three-stage filter bank stepping down to 0.01 µm — delivering ISO 8573-1:2010 Class 1.5.1 air, dew point ≤5 °C, oil below 0.01 mg/m³, proven by impurity test certificates rather than brochure claims. Two systems supplied against Government e-Marketplace contracts for a Government of India advanced-research centre — the second ordered four months after the first.

Overview

Oil-free by architecture, dry by measurement.

A research facility cannot afford compressed air that carries oil aerosol into optics, moisture into pneumatics, or particles into clean volumes. The cure is not a better filter alone — it is a train engineered end-to-end for the air-quality class, then tested against it.

Three-stage compressed air filter bank on a stainless steel stand — filter-regulator with pressure gauge followed by fine filter housings with differential pressure indicators and an outlet ball valve
Fig · 02 The filter bank — grade-stepped filtration to 0.01 µm ahead of the user point (representative arrangement)

The package is one integrated system: an oil-free scroll compressor whose compression chamber never sees lubricant, with a refrigerated dryer built into the same acoustic enclosure; a 1000-litre vertical SS304 receiver, argon-TIG welded and hydro-tested to IS 2825-1969 Class III; and a filter bank that steps the air through 1 µm, 0.1 µm and 0.01 µm elements before it reaches the outlet valve.

The number that matters is measured where the user connects: ISO 8573-1:2010 Class 1.5.1 — particle counts held to class 1, pressure dew point at ≤5 °C (tighter than the 7 °C the class itself permits), and total oil below 0.01 mg/m³. One research establishment bought this system in 2023 — and ordered a second, identical one four months later.

Air quality is certified at the outlet terminal before dispatch — at site, the train is qualified for pressure, flow and power.
Supplied · GeM

Two systems, four months apart

A Government of India advanced-research centre contracted this system through the Government e-Marketplace in 2023, then placed a second contract for an identical system within four months — each with site installation and commissioning in scope.

Certified · IS 2825

A receiver with a paper trail

The 1000-litre SS304 receiver is fabricated to IS 2825-1969 Class III, hydro-tested at ≥18 kg/cm² with certificate, backed by IS 6911 material certs — and the buyer holds the right to repeat the hydro test on receipt.

Measured · ISO 8573-1

Air quality proven, not claimed

Impurity test certificates against Class 1.5.1 are submitted before dispatch clearance; at site, the train is leak-inspected and qualified for pressure, delivered flow and power consumption as part of commissioning.

System Architecture

Compress, dry, store — then filter to class.

The schematic below is the whole train in the order the air travels it — every element the specification demands, from scroll element to the 0.01 µm final stage.

Variants

One architecture, sized to your duty.

Tenders call this a dry and oil-free compressed air system, an oil-free air package, instrument air, or clean utility air. The supplied configuration is one point on an architecture that scales.

Var · 01

The Supplied Configuration

≥48 cfm at 8 bar, 1000-litre SS304 receiver, three-stage filtration, Class 1.5.1 at the outlet — the reference a Government of India research centre ordered twice in 2023.

Var · 02

Capacity & Pressure

Higher free-air deliveries, higher delivery pressures, duplex compressor sets with standby changeover, and larger or multiple receivers — the same train discipline at plant scale.

Var · 03

Drier & Cleaner Still

Desiccant-dryer variants for sub-zero pressure dew points, and filtration chains engineered to other ISO 8573-1 class targets — specified clause-by-clause against the air your process actually needs.

FAQ

Common questions.

Plain-language answers from the engineering team.

Q · 01 What does ISO 8573-1 Class 1.5.1 actually mean?
The three digits grade the three contaminants — particles, water, oil. Class 1 particles means no more than 20,000 particles/m³ at 0.1–0.5 µm, 400 at 0.5–1 µm, and just 10 at 1–5 µm. Class 5 water permits a pressure dew point up to +7 °C — though the supplied systems were specified tighter, at ≤5 °C. Class 1 oil caps total oil — aerosol, liquid and vapour together — at 0.01 mg/m³. Each figure is verified by measurement at the outlet terminal, not inferred from component datasheets.
Q · 02 How is a scroll compressor oil-free?
A scroll element compresses air between two interleaved spirals — one fixed, one orbiting — with no pistons, no valves in the air path, and no lubricant anywhere in the compression chamber. Bearings live outside the air stream. That is different from an oil-injected machine with downstream oil removal, which is only as clean as its last filter change. Here the air never meets oil in the first place — and the filter bank then guards the 0.01 mg/m³ limit as defence in depth.
Q · 03 If the compressor is oil-free, why the three-stage filter bank?
Because the class is judged at the outlet, and the compressor is not the only source of contamination — pipework sheds particles, ambient air carries aerosols in through the intake, and receivers collect condensate. The bank steps the air through a 1 µm filter-regulator, a 0.1 µm and a 0.01 µm element in series, each stage protecting the finer one after it. All stages are standard catalogue products rated ≥50 scfm, so replacement elements are a local purchase — and one spare element per stage is handed over with the system.
Q · 04 What documentation comes with the air receiver?
The vessel is fabricated in SS304 to IS 2825-1969 Class III with argon-assisted TIG welding, hydro-tested at ≥18 kg/cm² against an 8 bar working pressure, and ships with its hydro test certificate, IS 6911-1992 material test certificates, and the calibration certificate of the test gauge. The safety valve is to ASME Section VIII. On the supplied contracts the buyer also held — and could exercise — the right to repeat the hydro test after delivery.
Q · 05 What happens at installation and commissioning?
The system arrives in OEM packaging and is installed and piped at site. Every joint is leak-inspected before and after installation; corrodible components are checked for protective coating; and the train is then qualified against its numbers — delivery pressure, free air delivery, and power consumption; air quality itself is certified against Class 1.5.1 at the outlet terminal before dispatch. Warranty runs for one year from completion of installation, commissioning and final acceptance, not from dispatch.
Q · 06 Can you build to our tender specification exactly?
That is the standard engagement. Both supplied systems were bid on the Government e-Marketplace against a Government buyer’s technical specification with a mandatory clause-by-clause compliance statement — and built to it, through certificate gates the buyer’s engineers cleared before dispatch. Send your specification — capacity, class, receiver, standards, documentation regime — and we return a compliance matrix within two working days; export enquiries are handled the same way.
