Overview

The coldest liquid on site has to reach the job.

Liquid nitrogen lives in a bulk tank at the edge of the plant — but the work that needs it happens deep inside: a pipe to be freeze-plugged for valve replacement, a component to be shrink-fitted, a sensor to be cooled. A portable dewar is how −196 °C travels those last five hundred metres safely.

These are working vessels, not storage jars. The double-wall SS 304 construction with vacuum super insulation holds static evaporation to 2% a day or better, so the nitrogen you filled on Monday is still there for Friday's job. A pressure-building circuit with automatic regulation self-pressurises the vessel to deliver continuous liquid or gas flow at a set pressure — up to a working pressure of 24 kg/cm²(g), guarded by a calibrated relief valve.

Everything the user touches is engineered for plant work: pressure and float-level instrumentation on the head, fill / withdrawal / vent valves, a wheeled trolley for easy movement across plant floors, and a 10 m SS 304 corrugated flexible cryogenic hose with standard NPT fittings to reach the work point — the configuration specified for in-situ ice-plugging at a nuclear power project.

Fill at the bulk tank, wheel to the work front, and hold pressure until the job is done.

An Indian nuclear-power project contract

200 L and 450 L containers supplied for in-situ ice-plugging duty at a nuclear power project — procurement, documentation, and inspection to the utility's standard.

Documented · PESO

Papers a pressure vessel deserves

PESO letter with approved drawing, general-arrangement drawing, quality test certificates, safety-valve calibration certificates, and O&M manual — delivered with every container.

Engineered · To Work

Self-pressurising withdrawal

Automatic pressure regulation holds the set delivery pressure as the job draws liquid or gas — no manual chasing of the gauge, no interrupted freeze.

Construction

Two walls, a vacuum, and discipline.

A dewar is only as good as its insulation and its valve head. The section below is the whole product: an SS 304 inner vessel floating in vacuum super insulation, crowned by the instrumentation that makes it a plant tool.

Pressure System

Working pressure up to 24 kg/cm²(g) with automatic pressure regulator and calibrated safety relief valve — pressure-building circuit for self-pressurised delivery.

Con · 03

Instrumentation

Pressure gauge and float-type level indicator mounted on the vessel head, with fill, withdrawal, and venting valves — the state of the dewar readable at a glance.

Con · 04

Variants

One vessel family, many tender names.

Tenders call these dewars, cryocans, portable cryogenic containers, LN2 flasks, or self-pressurising liquid nitrogen vessels. The same engineering answers all of them — sized and fitted to the clauses of your specification.

Var · 01

Capacities to Order

The supplied family spans 200–450 L; smaller laboratory vessels and larger transportable capacities are engineered against your duty and handling constraints.

Var · 02

Ice-Plugging Kits

Engineered as complete freeze-sealing packages — dewar, transfer hose, pipe-freezing jackets, and procedure support — for valve replacement on live lines without draining the system.

Var · 03

Other Cryogens

The vessel and valve-head architecture extends to liquid oxygen and argon service — materials, cleaning discipline, and documentation matched to the gas.

Var · 04

Manifolded Banks

Multiple dewars manifolded for higher continuous gas flow — with changeover regulation, engineered with the same discipline as our gas-distribution systems.

FAQ

Common questions.

Plain-language answers from the engineering team.

Q · 01 What is ice-plugging, and why a dewar for it?
Ice-plugging (freeze sealing) forms a solid plug inside a live pipe by chilling a short section with liquid nitrogen — so a valve downstream can be replaced without draining the whole system. The job may run for hours and the freeze must never let go, which is why it demands a vessel that holds set pressure automatically and delivers continuously: exactly what the pressure-building circuit and 10 m cryo hose on this dewar are for.
Q · 02 How long does the nitrogen last in storage?
Static evaporation loss is held to 2% per day or better by the vacuum super insulation — so a filled 450 L vessel still holds roughly nine-tenths of its charge after a five-day week, parked and untouched. Actual endurance in service depends on how much the job draws.
Q · 03 Gas withdrawal or liquid withdrawal?
Both. The pressure-building circuit self-pressurises the vessel and the automatic regulator holds your set delivery pressure — draw liquid for freezing and cooling jobs, or continuous gas where the application wants vapour. The float gauge and pressure gauge on the head show what remains.
Q · 04 What documentation comes with each container?
The package specified by the nuclear-power buyer: PESO letter with approved drawing, general-arrangement drawing, quality test certificates, safety-valve calibration certificates, operation & maintenance manual, and warranty certificate — the paper trail a pressure vessel carrying cryogen deserves.
Q · 05 Why SS 304 rather than aluminium?
Stainless 304 keeps its toughness at −196 °C, shrugs off plant handling that dents lighter vessels, welds and inspects cleanly for pressure duty, and tolerates the decades of fill-and-wheel cycles an industrial dewar actually lives through. For plant and defence service, the weight penalty buys durability.
Q · 06 Can you build to our tender specification exactly?
That is the standard engagement — the supplied containers were built clause-by-clause against a nuclear utility's tender. Send yours — capacity, pressure, fittings, documentation regime — and we return a compliance matrix within two working days; export enquiries are handled the same way with formalities managed as part of the programme.
