Aircraft Aggregate Flushing Rig, dual‑pressure ATF cleaning to 25 kgf/cm².

Skid-mounted flushing rig for aircraft pumps, valves and actuators. Circulates temperature-controlled ATF through the aggregate under test at dual-pressure supply (25 & 10 kgf/cm²) with multi-stage filtration and a variable-speed drive motor that rotates the assembly — removing contaminants down to the 10–15 micron level that static wash or solvent cleaning cannot reach.

    Overview

Contamination is the enemy of every aircraft aggregate.

Modern aircraft aggregates — engine modules, airframe actuation systems, auxiliary hydraulic units — are built to extremely fine tolerances, with slender pressure passages and micro-scale lubrication galleries. Even a 10–15 micron particle lodged in a servo-valve spool clearance or a lubrication nozzle can lead to catastrophic failure.

The Aircraft Aggregate Flushing Rig by Neometrix Defence Limited is engineered to perform deep, dynamic internal cleaning of these aggregates. Unlike a simple wash or solvent-based clean, the rig replicates actual operational behaviour — circulating ATF through the aggregate at controlled pressure, temperature and flow while simultaneously driving or actuating the unit — so contaminants are removed from recessed internal cavities that static cleaning methods cannot reach.

Every aggregate, whether new, overhauled, or under qualification, must undergo a rigorous flushing process before being passed as airworthy. The rig supports production acceptance, MRO flushing after disassembly-reassembly cycles, life-extension refurbishment, and failure-investigation diagnostics — making it a primary defence against flow-induced failures, hydraulic instability, and safety hazards.

By ensuring internal cleanliness at a microscopic level, the rig directly improves aircraft safety and extends component lifespan.

Its combination of hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electronic subsystems makes it a cornerstone of any aerospace MRO or production environment — a hydraulic flushing test bench purpose-built for aviation-grade aircraft component cleaning.

    Architecture

    Four subsystems, one flushing platform.

Multiple integrated modules work cohesively to simulate real-world aggregate operation — from ATF pressurisation through to drive and recovery.

    Sub · 01

    Hydraulic Flushing Circuit

Dual pressure supply from pumps P1 & P2 (25 & 10 kgf/cm²) with dedicated relief valves RV1/RV2 and adjustable bypass flow control CV1/CV2 for soft or aggressive flushing.

    Sub · 02

    ATF Storage & Filtration

300 L Tank T1/T2 pair with suction strainers F2/F3 and return-line filters F7/F8 — pump P3 recirculates only cleaned fluid back into the loop.

    Sub · 03

    Pneumatic Supply Circuit

Filter F9, pressure regulator PRV1, and ball valves BV18/BV19 for actuation of air-operated valves and internal spools during flushing.

    Sub · 04

    Drive & Loading Unit

Drive motor M4 with adjustable speed knob, mechanical fixtures for securely mounting aggregates, an integrated sink, and safety guards.

Fig · 02 Facility layout diagram (not a photograph) — test-cell arrangement showing filter unit, test unit glass cover, gauge panel and filters

The diagram illustrates the test-cell arrangement referenced by the rig’s major subsystems — the filter unit and gauge panel bay, the glass-covered test unit where the aggregate is mounted, and the filters feeding the flushing circuit. Together these modules create a high-integrity flushing platform capable of removing contaminants, validating internal flow profiles, and confirming readiness for aviation use.

    Filtration System

Six stages from suction to recovery.

Fluid passes successively through suction strainers, dual pumps, bypass flow control, and multi-stage filters before entering the unit under test — then drains through a closed-loop recovery path back into the reservoir.

    FS · 01  |  Suction Stage

    Suction Strainers

ATF is drawn from Tank T1 via suction strainers F2 and F3, preventing coarse particles from entering the pumps.

    Coarse Stage
    FS · 02  |  Pressurisation

    Pumps P1 & P2

Pumps P1 and P2 independently pressurise the fluid, each protected by a dedicated pressure relief valve (RV1, RV2).

    Dual Pressure Supply
    FS · 03  |  Flow Regulation

    Bypass Control CV1/CV2

Bypass return lines with flow control valves allow precise tuning of flow rate and pressure for different aggregate types.

    Soft / Aggressive Flushing
    FS · 04  |  Multi-Stage

    Filters F4, F5, F6

A progressive filtration gradient ensures sub-micron level contamination is removed before ATF enters the unit under test.

    Progressive Filtration
    FS · 05  |  Distribution

    Header BV8–BV11

Clean ATF is routed through a controlled header feeding four ball valves, letting operators choose single- or multi-line flushing.

    Single / Multi-Line
    FS · 06  |  Drain & Recovery

    Sink B1 → Tank T2 → P3

ATF drains into Sink B1, flows to Tank T2 for contaminant separation, then pump P3 returns it to T1 via fine filters F7 & F8.

    Pneumatic & Drive

    Air actuation and dynamic rotation.

Certain aggregates need air-assisted actuation, and rotational components need dynamic rotation to simulate internal fluid churning and boundary-layer removal.

    Pneumatic Supply Circuit

Supports aggregates requiring air actuation or pressure-assisted internal movement.

    • Filter F9 removes moisture and particulates from incoming air.
    • Pressure Regulator PRV1 sets the required actuation pressure precisely.
    • Ball Valves BV18 & BV19 provide controlled isolation of the air supply.
    • Actuates air-operated valves inside aggregates and aids flow-direction changes during dynamic simulation.

    Drive & Loading Unit

Rotational aggregates — fuel pumps, hydraulic pumps, scavenge pumps, gear-type equipment — require rotation for proper flushing.

    • Drive Motor M4 with adjustable speed knob and mechanical fixtures for secure mounting.
    • Integrated sink captures and isolates used ATF during rotation.
    • Prevents stagnation zones and enhances detachment of internal debris.
    • Helps identify abnormal noises, vibrations, or flow restrictions during test.
    05
    Control & Fluid

    Centralised control, aviation-grade fluid.

A single electrical panel operates every function of the rig, while Aviation Turbine Fluid (ATF) is chosen specifically for compatibility with aviation-grade components.

    Electrical Control Panel

    • Switches & indicators for pumps M1, M2, M3, plus the M4 drive-motor panel with speed adjustment knob.
    • Temperature controller with digital indicator, and an over-temperature protection indicator.
    • Fluid level indicators (High/Low) for both T1 & T2.
    • 27 VDC (10 A) power source for auxiliary electronics.

Operators can start/stop all pump stages, adjust drive speed, monitor fluid temperature and pressure, and detect tank levels and fault conditions in real time — laid out for fast troubleshooting and safety compliance.

    Density775–840 kg/m³ at 15°C
    Temperature Range15–40°C
