Overview

One rig, two pressure regimes.

Submarine and naval-ship pipe assemblies have to survive both static hydraulic loading and gaseous pneumatic pressurization before they ever go to sea. The High Pressure Air Test System qualifies both in a single, purpose-built rig.

The High Pressure Air Test System is a dual-mode test rig built to verify the mechanical strength, sealing integrity, and pressure endurance of critical piping components used in submarines, naval vessels, and marine infrastructure. It qualifies pipes and fittings before deployment in submarines, naval ships, offshore structures, and underwater energy systems.

The system supports both hydraulic and pneumatic testing regimes on a single platform, offering a complete validation path for metallic pipe assemblies and fittings under static and dynamic pressure conditions that simulate the most demanding operational environments.

600 Bar hydraulic. 400 Bar pneumatic. One control system, automatic or manual.

Programmable test sequences, real-time DAS data monitoring, and multi-layer safety interlocks make it suited to defence-grade pressure validation and high-risk underwater applications.

Testing Modules

Hydraulic & pneumatic, in one rig.

Two independent testing modules on a shared control and safety architecture.

MODULE · 01

Hydraulic Testing Module

Uses deionized water as the working fluid, generating 50–600 Bar through Haskel USA high-ratio pneumatic pumps that convert 8–10 Bar drive air into hydraulic force. Pressure is applied incrementally in staged steps, each held for a set duration, to assess resistance to burst and deformation under long-duration static loads typical of deep-sea operation.

50–600 Bar · ~40 CFM
MODULE · 02

Pneumatic Testing Module

Uses clean, dry compressed air to simulate pressurization in gaseous environments, generating up to 400 Bar from a built-in compressor or high-pressure cylinder bank. Detects leakage, joint integrity, and structural behaviour under fluctuating or peak air pressures — critical for tees, elbows, and connectors in high-integrity marine systems.

20–400 Bar · ~80 CFM
03
Testing Sequences

Staged pressure ramp-up programs.

Every sequence is configurable through the automated test interface.

Hydraulic Testing Sequence

The hydraulic process runs a controlled multi-stage ramp: 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300, 400, and 600 Bar. Each intermediate pressure is held for approximately two minutes, and the maximum 600 Bar stage is maintained for ten minutes — replicating the extreme operating environments submarine and marine components must withstand.

Pneumatic Testing Programs

  • Program 1: 20, 100, 150 Bar — final stage held 10 minutes.
  • Program 2: 20, 100, 150, 200 Bar — 200 Bar stage held 10 minutes.
  • Program 3: 20, 100, 150, 200, 300, 400 Bar — 400 Bar stage held 10 minutes, others held 2 minutes each.
04
Modes of Operation

  • Digital logging: every test is recorded for traceability, certification, and reporting.
  • Remote video monitoring: live CCTV feed of the test chamber during active testing.
  • Automated safety: interlocks, threshold alarms, and automatic shutdown routines.
  • Front-panel control: toggle switches, potentiometers, and analog glycerin-filled gauges.
  • R&D-ready: ideal for prototyping and custom component trials.
  • Operator discretion: direct interaction with pressure stages and timing.
  • Manual safety: interlocks, manual emergency stop, and redundant monitoring.
  • Nitrogen purging: two 150 Bar N₂ banks remove moisture and contaminants from lines before and after pneumatic testing.
