Hydraulic Test Pac With Chart Recorder: A Pressure Test That Stops Itself and Writes It Down

Some pressure tests need to run for a long time. Someone has to watch the gauge, keep the pump topped up and remember what the pressure did overnight. The Neometrix Hydraulic Test Pac With Chart Recorder removes most of that. It is a portable, self-contained hydro-pressure test unit powered entirely by compressed shop air, and its pump stops by itself when the target is reached.

One Regulator Sets the Pressure

The unit needs nothing more than a compressed-air supply. The setting of the air-drive pressure regulator determines the final hydraulic output pressure. The MS-110 air-driven liquid pump builds pressure until it reaches that point, then stalls automatically. In the stalled condition it consumes no further energy and holds the pressure indefinitely, with a rated standby draw of zero watts.

A Record, Not Just a Reading

A built-in Rototherm circular chart recorder plots the test pressure continuously over time. That gives a physical trace of every test run, useful for quality assurance, customer witness testing and defence or aerospace documentation. Combined with the auto-stall behaviour, it makes long proof-pressure holds possible without an operator standing by.

What Is in the Box

– Air filter and regulator (1/4 in BSPF, 150 psi working pressure)
– MS-110 air-driven hydraulic pump
– Air-inlet and outlet pressure gauges: 0-16 bar, +/-0.5% accuracy, 100 mm dial
– Rototherm circular chart recorder
– Isolation, needle and drain ball valves
– Level gauge (Model LG2-05) for the reservoir
– High-pressure relief valve against over-pressurisation
– Castor-mounted stainless steel trolley frame with push/lift handles

Built to Move

Because it needs no electrical supply, the pac can be wheeled between shop-floor stations or taken to a customer site or field location. The compact stainless steel enclosure houses the whole test circuit, so a compressed-air line is the only external requirement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does an auto-stall pump matter for a long pressure hold?
Because a pump that keeps running to maintain pressure needs power, attention and often a pressure switch cycling on and off. An air-driven pump that stalls when the output pressure matches the regulator setting simply stops, holds the pressure and draws no further energy. That makes long proof-pressure holds simple and removes the need for an operator to stay beside the unit.

Why record the test on a chart as well as reading a gauge?
A gauge shows the pressure at the moment someone looks at it. A chart recorder shows what it did throughout the test, including any slow decay, which is what a leak looks like in a hold test. That trace is also auditable evidence for quality assurance and for customers who witness or review the test.
