Overview

The humblest GSE touches the aircraft most often.

Every sortie starts and ends at a ladder. Access equipment is climbed thousands of times a year, leaned against pressurised skin, and towed across the apron in all weather — which is why operators specify it precisely, and why a generic warehouse ladder has no business against an airframe.

Fig · 02 Cabin-entrance ladder — platform, rails, and padded fuselage rests, sized to the door

Neometrix builds this equipment the way an airframe deserves: welded steel structures with non-slip treads, full-height handrails, kick plates, and rubber-padded fuselage bumpers that protect the skin at every contact point — fixed cabin-entrance ladders for maintenance access, and towable passenger steps on braked, jockey-wheeled chassis for crew and passenger boarding.

The decisive difference is the build process. Both delivered programmes ran the same discipline: detailed design drawings submitted within days of award and approved by the operator before fabrication, then an advance sample unit approved before bulk manufacture — so sill height, platform geometry, rail positions, and mobility were all fixed on paper the buyer had signed. Delivery was full SITC: supplied, installed, tested, and commissioned at station.

Nothing is fabricated that the operator has not already seen and signed.
Delivered · Programme 1

Ten cabin-entrance ladders

Supplied, installed, tested, and commissioned for an IAF station (2023) — buyer-approved drawings and advance sample, compatibility with existing station equipment guaranteed.

Delivered · Programme 2

Five towable passenger steps

Towable passenger ladders delivered to a second IAF station (2023) under the same drawing-approval discipline — as OEM, with Make-in-India Class-1 declared local content of 80%.

Service presence at IAF stations

Neometrix service engineers work at air force stations across India on ground-support-equipment maintenance contracts — warranty repair commitments on this equipment are backed by people already working at stations across India.

Design & Build

Approved on paper before it exists in steel.

Access equipment fails buyers in quiet ways — a platform an inch too low, a rail that fouls the door, a bumper in the wrong place. The drawing-first process exists to catch every one of those on paper, where changes cost nothing.

Structure

Welded steel frames engineered to the load case — stair stringers, braced towers, and platforms designed for the personnel and tool loads of the role, with lifting and tie-down provisions where the station needs them.

Eng · 02

Safety of Use

Non-slip treads, full-height handrails, kick plates on platforms, and guarded openings — the fall-protection vocabulary of working-at-height practice, applied to apron equipment used at night and in rain.

Eng · 03

Airframe Protection

Rubber-padded fuselage rest bumpers at every potential contact point, radiused edges, and stand-off geometry set at drawing stage — the ladder protects the pressure hull it serves.

Eng · 04

Mobility

Fixed units on lockable castors and rubber feet; towable units on wheeled chassis with drawbar, jockey wheel, and parking brakes — matched to the station's tow tractors and apron discipline.

Variants

One discipline, every access need.

Tenders name this family many ways — cabin ladder, crew entry ladder, passenger steps, boarding stairs, maintenance platform, servicing stand. The same drawing-approved build discipline covers all of them.

FAQ

Common questions.

Plain-language answers from the engineering team.

Q · 01 Why not just buy an industrial ladder?
Because the aircraft pays for the difference. Access equipment for airframes needs padded rest bumpers positioned for the skin it touches, platform heights matched to a specific door sill, stand-off geometry that clears antennas and probes, and mobility that behaves on an apron. A warehouse ladder meets none of those — and its first scratch on a pressure hull costs more than the right equipment.
Q · 02 How do you make sure it fits our aircraft?
The same way both delivered IAF programmes ran: detailed design drawings against your aircraft's sill and door geometry, submitted for your approval before fabrication begins, then an advance sample unit approved before bulk manufacture. Your modifications are incorporated at drawing stage — nothing is built that you have not signed.
Q · 03 What materials and finish do you use?
Welded steel structure with non-slip treads, full-height handrails, and kick plates, finished in an industrial aviation-grey paint system — or your fleet standard. Aluminium construction is offered where the tender demands lighter units. Every contact point carries rubber-padded fuselage rests.
Q · 04 Do you install and commission at station?
Yes — both delivered programmes were full SITC scope: supplied, installed, tested, and commissioned at the operating station, with compatibility against the station's existing equipment set guaranteed as a contract condition, and a warranty with a committed repair turnaround behind it.
Q · 05 Can you build platforms and docks, not just ladders?
Yes. The same drawing-approved discipline extends to wing and engine access platforms, tail docks, and multi-level servicing stands — scoped per aircraft and hangar. Adjustable-height units serving mixed fleets are engineered to order.
Q · 06 Do you export this equipment?
Yes — access ladders and steps are ground support equipment not typically subject to export control, and we respond to tenders from government operators and MROs internationally. Send your tender specification and the response starts with a clause-by-clause compliance matrix; export formalities are handled as part of the programme.
