Helicopter washing rig. Towable. Self-contained.

A twin-axle flightline trailer that carries everything an airframe wash crew needs — 1,000 litres of water in food-grade stainless, a 200 bar triplex plunger pump with an independent standby, a foam system, compressed air, 30 m hose reels, and its own 10 kVA silent generator. Delivered to the Indian Air Force; built to your tender specification.

Overview

Airframes corrode faster than they fly out of hours.

Salt air, exhaust soot, hydraulic film, and dust shorten airframe life and hide cracks from inspection — which is why every air arm mandates scheduled washing, and why coastal and naval operators tender washing rigs on repeat. The problem is infrastructure: most flightlines have no water point, no power point, and no time. This rig solves all three at once.

Pump bay of the washing rig: triplex plunger pump with brass head, stainless plumbing, hose reel and foam lance
Fig · 02 Pump bay — triplex plunger pump, stainless plumbing, quick-disconnect reels

Everything is on the trailer: water, detergent, pressure, air, and power. Tow it to the aircraft with any standard tow tractor — the 12/24 V seven-pin lighting harness and overhead aviation lights keep it legal on the flightline at night — drop the parking jack, and the crew is washing within minutes. No bowser, no cable run, no waiting for the wash bay slot.

The pumping group is engineered for airframe care, not car-park brute force: an adjustable-pressure triplex plunger pump with ceramic pistons delivers anything from a gentle rinse to a 200 bar cut, a dedicated foam pump lays cleaning compound from its own 30 L tank, and a standby plunger pump keeps the wash schedule alive if the main ever drops out.

One trailer, one tow tractor, one crew — a complete washing detachment for a helicopter squadron.

Pumping Group

Main triplex plunger pump — forged brass head, ceramic pistons, double-gasket sealing, 10–100 µm intake filtration, integral gauge, pressure-adjustment knob, and auto-shutoff microswitch — backed by an independent standby plunger pump.

Sys · 02

Water & Foam

Food-grade stainless tank of 1,000 L and above with overhead refill, electric (non-conducting) quantity meter, and maintenance drain — plus a separate 30 L compound tank with its own foam pump for pre-soak and lather passes.

Sys · 03

Air System

Up to 2.5 hp, 50 L receiver at 120 psi with its own 30 m hose reel, integral gauge, safety and relief valves — for blow-drying crevices, driving air tools, and clearing lines after the wash.

Sys · 04

Power & Control

Silent 10 kVA (15 kVA max) BS-compliant diesel generator, 230 V with 12 V DC systems, electric start, 50 L fuel tank, class-H insulation — with commercial-supply changeover, 75 ft earthing reel, and E-stop.

03
Walkaround

An aviation trailer, not a garden cart.

The platform under the wash gear is engineered to flightline rules: an aviation-grade steel deck of 11 × 6 feet on twin fixed centre axles, 3-ton capacity, low bed height, parking brakes, a non-steerable towing bracket for tractor trains, 16-inch wheels with a mounted spare, and the lighting harness the tarmac demands.

FAQ

Common questions.

Plain-language answers from the engineering team.

Q · 01 Is 200 bar safe on an airframe?
200 bar is the pump's maximum, not the working prescription. Output pressure is operator-adjustable by knob from a gentle rinse upward, and the wash technique — nozzle choice, stand-off distance, spray angle — follows the aircraft maintenance manual. The headroom exists for wheels, undercarriage bays, and GSE, where a hard cut is wanted; radomes, seals, and sensors are washed at a fraction of it.
Q · 02 Does it really need no site services?
None. The trailer carries its own water (≥1,000 L), cleaning compound, compressed air, and a silent 10 kVA diesel generator with electric start. Where the apron has power, a changeover switch runs the rig from shore supply instead — saving fuel and noise. A 75 ft earthing reel grounds the rig beside the aircraft.
Q · 03 What happens if the main pump fails mid-schedule?
The rig carries an independent standby triplex plunger pump with its own intake filtration and its own hose reel. The wash programme continues at reduced flow while the main pump is serviced — and the two-year MRLS spares package includes the seals, valves, and gaskets that plunger pumps consume.
Q · 04 Can you build to our tender specification exactly?
That is the standard engagement. Send the specification — in any language, any format — and we return a clause-by-clause compliance matrix identifying full compliance, proposed equivalents, and any clarifications needed. The delivered IAF rig was itself built to a minimum-specification tender, clause by clause.
Q · 05 What towing and lighting standards does the trailer meet?
The trailer is built for flightline tractor trains: non-steerable towing bracket, low bed height, twin fixed centre axles with parking brakes on at least one axle, 16-inch wheels with a mounted spare, and a 12/24 V seven-pin lighting harness with overhead aviation lights compatible with standard tow tractors. SAE, CE, ISI, and BIS standards are applied as applicable to the configuration.
Q · 06 Do you export this equipment?
Yes — washing rigs are ground support equipment not typically subject to export control, and we supply to government operators and MROs internationally. Export formalities, documentation, and inspection arrangements are handled as part of the programme; the response starts with the same compliance matrix against your specification.
