The Neometrix Multipurpose Fuel Injection Pump & Injector Test Rig is a high-precision calibration and acceptance test platform for diesel FIP specialists in defence and naval maintenance environments. The rig handles the full range of pump types — inline, rotary, unit, and PT — on a single drive system.

A 35 kW DC motor with Thyristor drive powers the rig through a 5.3 kg·m² direct-coupled flywheel, delivering constant 330 Nm torque across the complete 30–3000 RPM range. A 12-line electronic SPM metering system captures per-cylinder injection quantity; LVDT sensors measure advance angle and rack position simultaneously; and an encoder provides 0.1° phasing resolution — all displayed live in the Neometrix LabVIEW-based software suite.

Every pump type. One drive platform. Full measurement traceability.

Designed for defence and naval facilities requiring comprehensive fuel injection equipment calibration with complete FAT and SAT documentation. This is one of the most capable indigenously developed FIP test rigs produced in India.

FAQ

Common questions.

Q · 01What pump types can be tested on this rig?
The rig tests multi-cylinder inline FIPs, rotary distributor pumps (VE/DPA), unit pumps for large diesel engines, and PT pumps via a dedicated mounting fixture kit. Universal coupling adapts to 75 mm, 90 mm, and 120 mm pump flanges with a zero-backlash Oldham-style disc coupling, balanced to G6.3 per ISO 1940-1.
Q · 02What is the speed range and control accuracy?
The Thyristor-controlled DC drive covers 30–3000 RPM with 1 RPM resolution and ±1 RPM stability under closed-loop encoder feedback. Acceleration rate is up to 400 RPM/sec. Six preset speeds can be stored in software, and a ±10% speed trim slider is available for governor characteristic testing. A nudge function (1–2 RPM jog) aids pump mounting alignment.
Q · 03What measurement parameters does the rig provide?
The rig measures: drive speed (1 RPM resolution, ±1 RPM), advance angle (±10 mm, ±0.1 mm), rack position (0–30 mm, ±0.1 mm), phasing (0–360°, 0.1°), boost pressure (0–6 bar, ±1% FSO), lube oil pressure (0–10 bar, ±1% FSO), fuel supply pressure (1–7 bar), two auxiliary pressure channels, pressure phasing (0–45 bar), and injection quantity from all 12 SPM metering lines simultaneously.
Q · 04What does the LabVIEW software display and record?
The Neometrix-developed LabVIEW software provides real-time display of all measurement parameters. Six preset speeds, nudge function, and ±10% speed trim are available from the PC interface. Test reports are generated automatically in standard format, covering all parameters measured during the test run.
Q · 05Can the rig test PT pumps without a separate drive?
Yes. A dedicated PT pump mounting fixture kit is included. The PT pump is tested using the main rig drive directly — no separate drive system is needed. This allows full-speed PT pump calibration within the same test environment, simplifying operation and reducing setup time.
Q · 06What is the fuel temperature control provision?
The fuel circuit integrates a chiller-based temperature-controlled supply, providing precise fuel temperature regulation throughout the test. This ensures consistent and repeatable calibration conditions, meeting IS/ISO standard requirements for fuel injection equipment testing regardless of ambient temperature variations.
Q · 07Why is the flywheel inertia of 5.3 kg·m² significant?
The flywheel inertia of 5.3 kg·m² (126 lb·ft²), directly coupled to the motor shaft, accurately replicates the rotational inertia of an actual engine crankshaft. This is critical for accurate governor testing and delivery curve characterisation — without sufficient inertia, drive speed would fluctuate with each injection stroke, making governor response measurements unreliable.
