Modular Ballistic Protection System: Protection Is a Number, Not a Promise
“Bullet-proof” is not a specification. A vehicle, a shelter or a crew cabin is exposed to a defined ballistic threat, and plain structural steel does not stop it. Passive armour does — but only if it is built to defeat that specific threat and proven to a standard, and only if it can be added to the platform without rebuilding it. That is the brief behind Neometrix’s modular ballistic protection system.
A Graded Stack, Not a Plate
Modern armour defeats a threat in layers. A hard strike face — ceramic (alumina, SiC or B4C) or armour steel — breaks up and erodes the incoming threat. A composite backing of UHMWPE or aramid catches the remnant and spreads its energy. A spall liner then traps fragments so the protected face stays intact, with a low back-face signature.
Stated as a Standard and a Level
Protection is expressed against recognised standards: STANAG 4569 levels 1 to 6, NIJ 0108.01 types II to IV, EN 1522/1523 and IS 17051, with multi-hit, V50 and back-face criteria. Every configuration is intended to be proof-tested to the cited standard at an accredited range — witnessed and documented — so the protection level is defensible rather than a datasheet claim.
Modular by Design
The protection is built as bolt-on appliqué panels with a mounting frame, stand-off and quick-attach interface. That allows protection to be added to a platform, scaled with the threat and replaced in the field after a strike, with weight and centre of gravity managed against payload and mobility.
Four Formats
– Vehicle appliqué armour for wheeled or tracked platforms
– Protected container / ISO shelter with walls, roof, floor, doors and apertures qualified together
– Protected cabin / crew compartment with ballistic glass vision blocks
– Fixed and point protection such as sentry posts, protected walls and equipment shields
Honest About Sourcing
The ballistic material — armour steel, ceramic, UHMWPE, aramid — is bought in to a ballistic grade. Neometrix engineers the panel, the mounting, the protected enclosure and the integration. It is engineered to order, and no specific delivered system is claimed. The system is protective and defensive in nature.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does “modular” actually buy me?
It decouples the armour from the platform. Because protection is built as bolt-on appliqué panels, a vehicle or shelter can be up-armoured without being redesigned, the protection level can be scaled to the threat, and a panel struck in service can be field-replaced instead of the whole structure being repaired. It also keeps weight and centre of gravity visible as engineering variables rather than afterthoughts.
Is the protection actually proven, or only specified on paper?
A stated level only means something when a configuration has been shot at. The approach is to prove each configuration by ballistic proof-test to the cited standard at an accredited range, including multi-hit and back-face criteria, and to qualify mounts, edges and apertures along with the panel — because untested seams and bolts quietly become the way through.
