Universal Hydraulic Test Bench for Aircraft: Measured, Not Assumed

Hydraulic pumps, motors, valves and cylinders behave differently under real pressure, flow and thermal load than any datasheet predicts. The Neometrix Universal Hydraulic Test Rig reproduces those service conditions on the bench so that volumetric efficiency, leakage, response time and mechanical integrity are measured rather than assumed. It is a fully automated, laboratory-grade platform for end-to-end evaluation of hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, cylinders and check valves, rated to 350 bar and 600 LPM.

Six Subsystems, One Rig

– Reservoir and filtration: 1,200 L SS-304 reservoir, ISO VG46 fluid, duplex return and simplex pressure filtration at beta >= 200.
– High-pressure pump set: two 250 kW pumps, each delivering 320 LPM at 350 bar (up to 600 LPM combined), driven by 1450 RPM IE3 motors, with the main-circuit relief set at 400 bar.
– Recirculation and cooling: a 5.5 kW, 250 LPM pump feeds SS-304 plate heat exchangers, holding ISO 4406 cleanliness and +/-2 C thermal stability on long runs.
– Automation: Siemens S7-1500 PLC with Comfort Panel HMI and pre-loaded recipes for hands-free sequencing, data logging and report generation.
– Three independent test beds: each with its own control panel, emergency stop and safety interlocks, sharing the common reservoir for true parallel testing.
– Data acquisition: 16-channel, 24-bit DAQ at up to 10 Hz logging pressure, flow and temperature, with CSV/XML export and automated PDF/Excel reporting.

Stations for Each Component Class

The pump station uses VFD vector control across 300-1450 RPM with quick-change displacement manifolds for rapid changeover between pump set-ups. Cylinder and valve stations carry purpose-built tooling for their component class, all coordinated by the one automation suite.

Built to Standards, With Global Components

The rig is designed to ISO 12100, DIN and BS standards and built with Rexroth, Parker, Hydac and Wika components. It supports R&D, quality control, maintenance diagnostics and training across aerospace, defence and industrial sectors, with safety, repeatability and full traceability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why three independent test beds on one rig?
Because throughput matters in a test house. Three beds sharing one reservoir and pump set let different components be tested in parallel, each with its own control panel, emergency stop and interlocks so that an issue on one bed can be handled without stopping the others.

Why does fluid cleanliness and temperature control matter in a test rig?
Because they are test variables. A rig that lets fluid cleanliness drift or temperature wander ends up measuring itself. Filtration at beta >= 200, ISO 4406 cleanliness control and +/-2 C thermal stability keep conditions consistent from run to run, so differences in the data come from the component under test.
