What is tested

What each hydraulic test bench proves.

Different components fail in different ways, so each bench is built to catch a specific failure.

ValvesControl and servo valves are checked for flow, pressure behaviour and leakage under working conditions; safety and relief valves are checked for set pressure, reseat and seat tightness. See the control valve test bench, the servo valve equipment and the safety and relief valve bench.
Pumps & motorsOutput flow and pressure are measured across the speed range, with the unit run under load. The aerospace pump / motor bench covers axial piston pumps to 270 bar, and the universal rig handles several component types on one platform.
Cylinders & actuatorsA cylinder is judged by where it starts and where it leaks: breakaway pressure, internal and external leakage, and proof pressure. See the hydraulic cylinder test bench.
Hoses & tubesHose assemblies are proof-tested, and burst-tested where required, behind a protective enclosure. See the hose test bench (to 2,500 bar) and the hose / tube proof test stand (to 690 bar).
Filters & fluidFilters are validated for cleanliness, durability and seal integrity, and circuits are cleaned before commissioning. See the filter test bench and the hydraulic flushing rig.
Dampers & snubbersDampers are measured for pressure against flow in jounce and rebound; snubbers are performance-tested for nuclear and piping service. See the damper test bench and the snubber test bench.
Pressure & flowGeneral strength and leak-tightness testing at 500, 700 and 1,000 bar, plus gravimetric flow-meter calibration. See the pressure test bench, the proof pressure rig, the 1,000 bar bench and the flow calibration rig.

Choosing

Choosing a hydraulic test bench.

Five questions settle most selections.

Start with the component and its test pressure — the rest follows.
  • What are you testing? The component type decides the bench family above.
  • What pressure and flow? Give the maximum test pressure and the flow the component needs. Benches range from 150 bar damper work up to 2,500 bar for hoses.
  • Acceptance or R&D? An end-of-line bench needs speed and repeatability; an R&D bench needs range and data logging.
  • Which fluid and cleanliness? Aircraft work often needs filtered fluid to a stated cleanliness class, as on the filter test bench.
  • Which standard applies? Tell us the specification you test to so the bench can be configured to match.

For background reading, see our guides to hydraulic valve testing and aerospace test benches.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions.

Plain-language answers, drawn from the individual product pages.

Q · 01 What is a hydraulic test bench?
A hydraulic test bench applies controlled pressure and flow to a component, such as a valve, pump, cylinder, hose or filter, and measures how it responds. It is used for end-of-line acceptance, overhaul checks and R&D, so a part is proven before it goes into a system.
Q · 02 Which hydraulic components can Neometrix test?
Neometrix builds benches for control valves, servo valves, safety and relief valves, pumps and motors, cylinders and actuators, hoses and tubes, filters, dampers and snubbers, and general proof-pressure testing. The universal hydraulic test rig can test pumps, valves, cylinders and motors on a single multi-station platform.
Q · 03 What pressure ranges are available?
It depends on the component. The control valve bench runs to 420 bar, the universal rig to 350 bar, the proof-pressure rigs to 700 bar and 1,000 bar, and the hose test bench to 2,500 bar using an air-driven Haskel pump. Tell us your test pressure and flow and we will confirm the right bench.
Q · 04 What is the difference between a proof pressure test and a burst test?
A proof pressure test holds a component at a defined pressure above its working pressure to confirm it does not leak or deform. A burst test raises pressure until the component fails to find its true limit. Neometrix builds benches for both, including a hydrostatic and burst tester to 500 bar.
Q · 05 Can the bench be built for my component?
Yes. Several Neometrix benches, including the cylinder and safety-valve benches, are engineered to order. Send the component drawing, the test pressure and flow, the fluid and the standards you work to, and we will propose a configuration.
Q · 06 Which standards do these benches reference?
Standards are cited per bench: NAS 1638 Class 4 cleanliness on the filter test bench, ASME BPVC Section XI on the snubber test bench, and IBR / API pattern on the safety and relief valve bench. Other benches are built to customer-specified requirements.
