    What is tested

What each aircraft test bench proves.

Different components fail in different ways, so each bench is built to catch a specific failure.

Hydraulic & flight controlPumps, servo valves, actuators and filters are tested for flow, pressure, response and cleanliness under aircraft fluid conditions. See the pump / motor bench, the servo valve equipment and the CCU test bench.
Fuel systemPumps, nozzles and gauging probes are checked for flow, pressure ratio and accuracy, and tanks are tested as a system. See the fuel pump test rig, the nozzle flow bench and the fuel system test rig.
Air, engine & instrumentsEnvironmental control units, bleed-air valves and pitot-static instruments are tested in the air conditions they work in. See the ECS test bench, the bleed-air valve rig and the air data test set.
Gearbox, bearing & structureTransmissions and bearings are run under load, and struts are qualified for landing loads. See the helicopter gearbox load rig, the 70,000 RPM bearing bench and the landing-gear shock absorber page.
Life support & safetyOxygen regulators, cylinders and fire detection systems are tested because they must never fail silently. See the oxygen test bench and the fire and overheat detection rig.
Electrical, avionics & overhaulStarter generators and navigation units are tested electrically, and overhaul benches produce the evidence needed to return a unit to service. See the starter generator rig, the TACAN test bench and the overhaul test benches.

    Choosing

Choosing an aircraft component test bench.

    Five questions settle most selections.

Start with the component and the manual you work to — the bench follows.
    • Which component? The unit under test decides the bench family above.
    • Which aircraft? Fixed-wing, helicopter or legacy type changes fittings, ports and loads.
    • Overhaul or acceptance? A depot overhaul bench follows the overhaul manual; an acceptance bench follows the factory specification.
    • Which fluid and temperature? Aircraft work often needs ATF or fuel at a controlled temperature and filtered to a stated cleanliness class.
    • Which standard applies? Tell us the specification, such as NAS 1638 or AIR 3514, so the bench can be configured to match.

For background reading, see our guides to aerospace test benches and hydraulic valve testing.

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions.

Plain-language answers, drawn from the individual product pages.

Q · 01 What is an aircraft component test bench?
An aircraft component test bench exercises a single aircraft unit, such as a pump, valve, fuel gauge, gearbox or oxygen regulator, outside the aircraft and checks it against its specification. It is used for overhaul, repair, acceptance and R&D, so a unit is proven before it returns to service.
Q · 02 Which aircraft components can Neometrix test?
Neometrix builds benches for hydraulic pumps, motors, servo valves, actuators and filters; fuel pumps, nozzles and gauging probes; environmental control units, bleed-air valves and air data instruments; gearboxes, bearings and landing-gear struts; oxygen and fire-detection systems; and starter generators and navigation units.
Q · 03 Do you build benches for overhaul and MRO?
Yes. Several benches are built for depot-level overhaul and MRO, including the fuel pump and nozzle test stand, the fire and overheat detection rig and the aircraft component overhaul test benches. Tell us the component, the aircraft type and the overhaul manual you work to.
    Q · 04 Can you build a bench for a legacy or out-of-support aircraft?
Yes. Many benches are engineered to order, including indigenisation work for legacy fleets such as the landing-gear shock absorber and the HS-748 hydraulic test rig. Send the component, its drawings or manual, and the test pressure, flow and standard.
Q · 05 Which standards do these benches reference?
Standards are cited per bench: NAS 1638 Class 4 cleanliness on the filter bench, AIR 3514 and MIL-L-7808 G on the nozzle flow bench, and MIL standards on the altitude switch rig. Our aerospace test bench guide covers MIL-STD-1522 and AS9100 in more depth. Other benches are built to customer-specified requirements.
Q · 06 How is this different from your aerospace test bench guide?
The guide explains how aerospace test benches are designed, which standards apply and how factory and site acceptance work. This page is the product range: pick the component you need to test and go straight to the matching bench.
    Q · 07 What is a bootstrap reservoir?
A bootstrap hydraulic reservoir is a pressurised reservoir that keeps the pump inlet supplied during manoeuvres. The Neometrix boot strap reservoir is an aircraft hydraulic reservoir and intensifier module whose reverse intensifier maintains 2.5 bar(g) at the pump inlet during negative-G for cavitation-free flight, in 2.75 L and 4.25 L modules.
Q · 08 Do you make gearbox test benches for the aircraft industry?
Yes. The gear box test bench is a skid-mounted platform with dual hydraulic packs, torque and RPM sensors, PLC / PC automation and IIoT connectivity, and custom industrial gearbox test benches are engineered to order. For helicopters, the main gearbox load test rig uses a back-to-back torque loop with mast and tail loading frames.
Q · 09 Can you test OEM hydraulic pumps, motors and aircraft generators?
Yes. The aerospace pump / motor bench provides OEM hydraulic pump and motor testing to 270 bar, 130 LPM and 6,000 RPM, and the starter generator test rig tests aircraft starter generators with vibration analysis.
