    Production stages

    What each stage needs.

An ammunition factory is a chain of stages, and each stage needs its own machine.

Forming and heat treatmentBillets are re-heated, forged and nosed, and driving bands are fitted. See the billet furnace, the vertical nosing press and the copper band press.
Small-arms componentsBullet cups, cartridge cases and belt links are made on dedicated lines. See the 9 mm case line, the blanking and cupping press and the M13 belt link.
Filling and packingCompositions are dosed by weight and the finished rounds are packed for storage. See the composition filling machine and the packing line.
Proof testingEvery shell body is pressurised above service pressure to prove it will hold. See the bomb shell test bench and the 155 mm finishing line.
Ballistic testingVelocity, yaw and V50 are measured to a national or NIJ standard. See the ballistic evaluation laboratory.
Demilitarisation and disposalOld stock is cut open, washed out and destroyed safely. See the demilitarisation plant and the weapon disposal system.

    Choosing

    Planning an ammunition line.

    Five questions settle most selections.

Start with the round, the output and the stage — the machine follows.
    • Which round? Small arms, mortar, artillery or tank rounds use different lines.
    • What output? Give the hourly or yearly volume, for example 15,000 cases an hour.
    • Which stage? Forming, filling, packing, proof test or disposal each use a different machine.
    • Which standard? Tell us the specification, such as CIA 4204 for belt links or IS 17051:2018 for ballistic testing.
    • New plant or upgrade? A turnkey line and a single machine are scoped differently.

For general proof testing, see our pressure testing machines.

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions.

Plain-language answers, drawn from the individual product pages.

Q · 01 What ammunition equipment does Neometrix make?
Neometrix engineers shell forming presses and furnaces, small-arms cartridge case lines, composition filling and packing lines, proof-pressure and ballistic test equipment, and demilitarisation and weapon disposal plant.
Q · 02 Can you supply a complete cartridge case line?
Yes. The 9×19 mm cartridge case plant is turnkey, with 8 integrated processes, 15,000 cases an hour, Boxer and Berdan cases on one line and 100% gauging.
Q · 03 How are shell bodies proof tested?
Each shell body is filled with water and pressurised above service pressure. The bomb shell machine reaches 1,800 bar for 155 mm, 105 mm and mortar shells, and the 155 mm base-bleed finishing line performs a 600 bar hydrostatic proof at 60 units an hour.
Q · 04 Do you supply ballistic test equipment?
Yes. The ballistic evaluation laboratory is built to IS 17051:2018 and NIJ 0106.06, with twin-gate velocity measurement from 50 to 1,800 m/s, a motorised target table and V50 and drop tests.
Q · 05 Can you destroy old ammunition and weapons?
Yes. The demilitarisation plant uses abrasive waterjet cutting and high-pressure washout, and the weapon disposal system shreds with H13 blades and then melts the pieces by induction at 1,700 °C.
Q · 06 Can the equipment be built to order?
Yes. Most of this equipment is engineered to order. Send the round, output, stage and the standard you work to, and we will propose a configuration.
Q · 07 Do you supply bomb shell manufacturing equipment?
Yes. For bomb shell manufacturing Neometrix supplies the billet furnace, the vertical nosing press, the copper band press, the 155 mm finishing line and the 1,800 bar pressure test bench.
    Q · 08 Do you make a firearm shredder?
The heavy duty automatic single row weapon disposal system destroys weapons in two stages: H13-blade shredding, then 1,700 °C induction melting, PLC-controlled.
