An air-driven, high-pressure nitrogen circuit system purpose-built for precision valve leak testing. PressurePAC is a high-pressure system developed for high-pressure nitrogen circuit leak testing of valves. The unit is divided into four functional sections — air drive, nitrogen inlet, nitrogen boosting, and nitrogen outlet — each engineered for precision, purity, and operator safety.

The air drive section requires dry, filtered air at 4 bar minimum to drive the PressurePAC unit. The nitrogen inlet section comprises a 0.1 micron high-pressure filter and hose to ensure inlet gas purity, connecting industrial nitrogen supply to the PressurePAC unit.

The nitrogen boosting section comprises a Haskel Gas Booster and Haskel Gas Amplifier to amplify and boost the available industrial nitrogen gas (3–150 bar) up to 300 bar.

System architecture

PressurePAC is a high-pressure system developed for high-pressure nitrogen circuit leak testing. The whole system is divided into four functional sections — air drive, nitrogen inlet, nitrogen boosting, and nitrogen outlet — each engineered to work together as a single integrated, mobile, cabinet-mounted test unit.

Air drive and nitrogen inlet

Air drive section

Dry and filtered air at 4 bar minimum is required to drive the PressurePAC unit. Required drive flow is 30–60 SCFM, with a dew point of -40°C for the drive air (within customer scope). Purity of the drive air/nitrogen is maintained to 5 micron.

Nitrogen inlet section

The nitrogen inlet section comprises a 0.1 micron high-pressure filter and hose to ensure inlet gas purity, along with the connection of industrial nitrogen to the PressurePAC unit. Inlet nitrogen pressure ranges from 3–150 bar with inlet purity maintained to 0.01 micron.

Nitrogen boosting section

This section comprises a Haskel Gas Booster and Haskel Gas Amplifier to amplify and boost the available industrial nitrogen gas (3–150 bar) up to an output pressure of 300 bar. The gas booster starts automatically at 180 bar and stops at 300 bar, using pilot switch interlocking at both the 180 and 300 bar thresholds.

Pressurisation proceeds in five defined stages — 50 bar, 150 bar, 200 bar, 250 bar, and 280 bar — rather than a single continuous ramp, to minimise the probability of an accident during test build-up. Manual pressure regulation is also available, allowing operators fine control up to 300 bar independent of the automated staged sequence.

Nitrogen outlet section

The nitrogen outlet section comprises all the safety and controlling components of the PressurePAC, along with measuring devices to record performance parameters of the unit. Nitrogen inlet pressure, air drive pressure, booster outlet pressure, and regulated test pressure are each monitored via dedicated panel-mounted gauges.

Remote control and safety

The unit is remotely controlled via pneumatic air. Various safety interlocking mechanisms are incorporated throughout the circuit — covering the open/close drive valve, open/close valve, vent valve, and test port — to guard against any probability of an accident during pressurisation, holding, or venting of the test circuit.
