The system integrates automatic dual-cylinder changeover manifolds, multi-stage purification modules (moisture <5 ppb, hydrocarbons <15 ppb, oxygen <1 ppb), and point-of-use SS 316L regulators (0–100 psi) to deliver Zero Air, N2, H2, He, and CH4 from high-pressure cylinders to laboratory panels. Electropolished SS 316/316L tubing and compression fittings form the distribution network, while an ATEX/CE-certified multi-channel gas detection panel with SS 316 transmitter heads provides 4–20 mA outputs, relay contacts, and Modbus communication.

All components are mounted in powder-coated MS enclosures configured per the full-layout drawings, with flexible hoses, fittings, and enclosures installed and commissioned to work-order specification.

One manifold bank. Five gas lines. Continuous, contamination-free supply.

Designed for analytical instrumentation, catalyst R&D, process simulation, and safety-critical inerting environments, the system is modular and scalable, fitting neatly into standard laboratory panel layouts with straightforward expansion.

Applications

Where it supplies gas.

From analytical instrumentation to safety-critical environments, this gas distribution system serves research and industrial laboratories that demand sub-ppb purity.

A · 01Analytical instrumentation: supplies carrier and calibration gases to GC, GC-MS, and FID detectors, where ultra-pure zero air (<0.1 ppm THC) prevents baseline drift and enhances sensitivity.
A · 02Catalyst R&D: feeds ultra-clean reactant gases for kinetic studies in microreactors or fixed-bed setups, where trace impurities can poison catalysts and skew activity measurements.
A · 03Process simulation: supports pilot-scale reactors requiring precise ratios of H2, N2, or CH4 under controlled pressures for scale-up validation in chemical or petrochemical research.
A · 04Safety-critical environments: in inerting or blanketing applications (gloveboxes, Schlenk lines), integrated detection and automatic shutdown protect personnel and samples from asphyxiation or explosion risks.

Introduction

The Gas Distribution System is a turnkey solution designed to supply ultra-pure gases — Zero Air (ZA), Nitrogen (N2), Hydrogen (H2), Helium (He), and Methane (CH4) — from high-pressure cylinders to laboratory instruments with precision, safety, and uninterrupted operation. It integrates automatic cylinder changeover, multi-stage purification, point-of-use regulation, stainless-steel distribution, and real-time gas detection into a modular, scalable assembly that fits neatly into standard panel layouts.

Auto changeover manifold

  • Automatic switching: a pilot-operated valve senses when the primary cylinder bank pressure falls below a preset threshold, triggering an uninterrupted switch to the standby bank.
  • Zero manual intervention: maximizes gas usage and eliminates the need for operators to monitor cylinder pressure continuously.
  • Bank configuration: five dual-cylinder changeover banks serve the ZA, N2, H2, He and CH4 lines with an additional spare purification module.

Multi-stage purification trains

Each gas stream flows through cartridge-type traps housed in SS 304 panels with quick-release clamps for rapid element changes:

  • Desiccant stage: lowers moisture to <5 ppb.
  • Carbon bed: removes hydrocarbons to <15 ppb.
  • Oxygen scavenger: ensures residual O2 <1 ppb.

Point-of-use regulation

Ultra-miniature, single-stage SS 316L regulators positioned at instrument inlets maintain stable 0–100 psi pressures. Their diaphragm-sensed design and integrated 10 µm mesh filters deliver contaminant-free gas with optimized flow characteristics, and integrated shut-off valves allow safe line isolation for maintenance.

Distribution network

  • Electropolished tubing: leak-tight SS 316/316L tubing (¼″×0.035″, ⅝″×0.028″) ensures smooth, inert flow with minimal dead volume.
  • Compression fittings: tees, unions, and reducers provide versatile routing across the full-layout drawing.
  • Flexible braided hoses: custom-length pigtails and SS-braided hoses accommodate movement and vibration isolation.
  • Leak testing: all connections undergo helium leak testing to <1×10−9 mbar·L/s.

Gas detection & safety

An ATEX/CE-certified, 16-channel multi-channel detector panel monitors O2, combustibles, and toxic gases via SS 316 transmitter heads housed in cast-aluminum LM-6, IP66-rated enclosures rated for Gas Groups IIA/IIB. The panel provides 4–20 mA outputs, programmable relays, and RS-485 Modbus communications with visual/audible alarms, enabling automated shutdown upon hazardous conditions.

Panel assembly

Enclosures are powder-coated MS, built per the full-layout drawing with standardized 600 × 400 mm frame sizes, knock-outs, and adjustable mounting rails. Regulators, dual-scale gauges, relief valves, and isolation valves are ergonomically arranged for visibility and maintenance access.
